Vol. 273 No. 5

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Parking.

85.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that people are parking in the central Dublin City area in direct contravention of Garda No Parking signs; and the action, if any, he intends to take in the matter.

I am informed by the Garda that the prohibition on the parking of motor vehicles in the central Dublin city area, which was brought into force on 18th May last, has generally been well observed by the public and has been rigorously enforced both by the Garda themselves and by traffic wardens.

My information is somewhat different and to the effect that a number of people are disregarding no parking signs. Is the Minister satisfied with the information he has received?

I am indeed. The information has come from the Garda and I have no doubt that they would give me an accurate account as they see it. They are satisfied that very few people have contravened the prohibition and ignored the signs.
